Re: Antique chair Stickley / Morris
As a general rule most Mission style pieces by well known makers such as Gustave Stickley. L&J.G Stickley, Roycroft and Limbert are well labeled or are identifiable from the catalogs these companies issued. It is our opinion this is not a piece by the Stickleys, but by one of their many competitors located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, during the early years of the 20th Century. While well marked chairs made by various members of the Stickley clan can sell for over $3500.00, comparable hand crafted examples by lesser known companies or the mass produced factory made examples sell for a great deal less. We'd retail a comparable chair for about $350.00
