I have no idea what type of wood this is. It came from my grandmother who had past at the age of 98 back in 2000. It's a hard type of wood though. I'm sorry I can't be any more explicit about the pieces.

This set looks to post date World War Two (1945) and like many made during that period, it was designed to resemble American Colonial furniture. Not a huge market for furniture like this presently, we retail a set in good condition for about $1500.00,but at auction they often go for less than $500.00
