ITEM INFO:
I was given this by an elderly woman who had been collecting (and had tons of) antiques for most of her adult life.
I took the fabric picture out of the frame and found 3 different areas of markings.
1) Says "Parasol girl"
2) Copyright 1803? Or 1808? I cannot make out the year.... It looks more like 1803 the more I look but I don't know...
then goes on to say "by CAMPBELL METZGER AND JACOBSON"
3) I took the best picture I had of this last "marking" on the back. I have no idea what it says, cannot read it.
This item is beautiful, and in what I thought was excellent shape until I saw the back (see pic) and it looks stained from something. The stain does not show on the front at all, I wonder how it even got in there.
Thank you so much, any information is greatly appreciated!
Re: Vintage Lithograph 18th Century Campbell Metzger Jacobson
It's an 1890's print, in the "Gibson Girl" style popular at the time. Is it on aper or cloth? Campbell, Metzger and Jacobson did a lot of promotional prints and prints on linen and even pillow cases.
Re: Vintage Lithograph 18th Century Campbell Metzger Jacobson
The picture really looks to me that the date is 1903?
Re: Vintage Lithograph 18th Century Campbell Metzger Jacobson
How do I tell if it's on aper or cloth?
Re: Vintage Lithograph 18th Century Campbell Metzger Jacobson
Cloth with have a woven pattern visible on the back. Based on what I can see from the other images this one is on fabric. Comparable pieces by the Campbell Metzger Jacobson company sell at auction for $150.00+ depending on subjecy matter and condition.
