bottom has been totally redone on the bottom . they did a really nice job. it cracked al alnong the front bottom . if someone needs one for the back porch they may pay 25-50 for it. ( that includes shipping)
i am not really good on furniture. but it seem like the curved out seat make it a little older. to make it easier for hoop skirts and the lower ones are older also . 1890s. you can see on the bottom where the posts have been cut off. this may have been a valuable one at sometime because of the age and because they repaired it. but the housing crash killed the value of a lot of the furnituere. it may have been a family one with memories that is why people try to resucue these also ask family if they have memories of this chair it might be valuable to the family.
Thanks a lot for all of this info it's very interesting. I believe it is a Boston rocker. You bringing that to my attention reminded me, the day my wife brought this home, she said the lady told her the chair "was from the Boston Tea Party, or something!" Haha kinda like the game you play in school where a secret gets passed around the room and the final result is nothing like the original statement.... The chair went from being a "Boston Rocker" to being the in the Boston Tea Party! Lol
oh yea we all played telephone.. you might still get 50-75 for the chair even thought its repaired and scratched up. good luck with your boston tew party chair ilike that.. all members of the new tea party have to buy one of these lol
