Re: Polish eagle medal

Yes first thoughts Eastern European ... I cannot read whats on it or the date by the pictures. If you reply and state what it says,  I can give your more direction. Definitely Mary and Jesus in the heart of the bird. So I figure it relates to some patriotic time and history where faith was important.

Please provide more details and I will respond .. thanks

Kindest Regards ..

Re: Polish eagle medal

Thanks Steve  .. Our Lady of Czestochowa has been intimately tied to Poland for 600 years. This would date back to 1382 which would be relevent to this medal. At this time the Great Civil War of Poland began in 1382.  In this year as well the 10 year old Polish girl Jadwiga became Queen. The word on the front does say wins

This is a Commemorative Medal of Jasna Góra Monastery 600 years that was founded by Monks in 1382 who had traveled from Hungary to Poland.  This is the site of a Major Polish Shrine ...

Circa 1982 -  Origin Czestochowa Poland.

Est Value $20 - $30 US

Re: Polish eagle medal

No worries Steve ,,, The problem I have in doing an evaluations is that its hard to view and understand what someone is showing me. If I cannot read the pictures or have a clear understanding of the piece its very difficult. As well the internet is sometimes not the best way to communicate. Many people post on here and do not realize there is more involved in researching a piece. The more information they give the better the results.  I rather enjoyed researching your piece and thank you kindly for sharing it. The fact is I actually learned a lot more history of Poland in the process.

In closing I was in the UK a few years back  ... hiking through farmers fields and ending up on the motor way a few kms from the town. As I challenged myself to get back to town and locate the nearest pub ... Some young lads drove by judging me about my situation with a few choice words ..Who can blame them ...  I persevered and made it back having totally lost my bearings and way ... But when I reached the pub I had a few beers and an awesome story to share ... I do not recommend hiking on a narrow motorway in the UK.. but never found a bad pub in my travels .. ...  Cheers ... Tom

Re: Polish eagle medal

Hi, Tom it is illegal to hike on a motorway in the uk would
not recommend anyway! as for beer I do not drink shame,
more pub around where I live then shops I live in what they called
the Black Country, and my favourite period in history
has to be the Industrial revolution not my cousin revolution
where we lost that one cheers Steve G
