Great old tin that I picked up at a recent auction. I can't find out anything about this and it is my understanding that even the packs are hard to come by. I am a general collector and have limited expertise in any one subject. I am hoping the true collectors can help me out in figuring out a value for this. I normally would list it on e-bay, but cigarettes are not allowed and I would have to sell the tin only... seems a shame to break up the set! Contact me with any offers or information you can offer. Thanks a million!!!
I
THIS TEA SET WAS A GIFT TO MY PARENTS IN 1958 FROM A WEALTHY AUNT WHO SAID IT WAS ALREADY AN ANTIQUE. IN THE ATTACHED PICTURES YOU CAN SEE THE AWESOME DETAIL IN EACH PIECE, ALONG WITH THE SET BEING IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. NO BLEMISHES OF ANY KIND ON ANY PIECE. THE SET HAS NEVER BEEN USED ONLY DISPLAYED IN GLASS CASE SINCE MY PARENTS GOT IT. WE WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE HISTORY AND VALUE OF THE SET.
Adorable little teapot with oriental style flowers and branches.
I want to start by thanking everyone for taking the time to help. I would like to learn more about the value so I can display him in the right place. If he is worth what I paid then I have a perfect spot in the open. But if he is worth more I want to display him in a safer location away from the kids flying footballs and rough housing. The neck is a beautiful blue, the tail feathers are a swirl of red and yellows, and the legs are a sparkling clear glass.
Very nice oriental wood statue of possibly a Monk or other religous figure. I was told it was used as a dinner bell. The piece needs to be cleaned professionally and some of the paint is chipping off. It is missing the front of one foot and the striker for the bell is gone also.I've seen similar in an exibition at the Birmingham,Alabama Museum of Art a few years ago. But no value placed on them.
This 37mm round was found ca. 1993 in the former US Embassy/Naval compound in Asmara, Eritrea. On the side of the casing is printed: 37MM M17 B1, LOT SER 100, 1943. On the projectile is stamped: FUZE DUM, M50. And printed on the projectile is: 37MM M21, [DR]ILL, CARTRIDGE.  (the "DR" is worn and barely visible). I kept the item since all indicators were it was a dummy round with no explosive danger. If that assumption is wrong please let me know. I suspect the round is Italian since they were in Eritrea during the WWII era, but could not confirm that.
Nice patina, never cleaned, some slight dents in the case and some wear marks from rolling around before I got it. Tip is somewhat rusted.
I need to know any potential issues putting this item on the market, and perhaps historical reference. I think the value range is $50.00 to $100.00. Thank you.
