This was purchased by my father in 1953. It has boars carved into the ivory handle on the steel, there are deer carved into the ivory handlesĀ of the knife and fork. The knife and fork also has gold decorative etching of deer and the company logo. The original box and price tag are still intact. The original price was 58.15 marks.
this item is in the original box along with the original instructionĀ sheet.
This is a silver tone model 7103 by sears and roebuck.
Not the usual stickley style, i cant find info on this style, model # is 53 1/2
This is a very detailed and somewhat unusual piece.Ā We originally thought it was pottery because it is glazed rather than painted and because it was so heavy.Ā I know many breeder collectors and none of them have seen this piece.Ā I have only seen it once inĀ a vintage home reclaimers warehouseĀ about 10 years ago and they refused to sell it at any price.Ā Ā I do know that the life size pieces were generally made for storefront displays and that sort of thing.Ā This breed of dog was also heavily used in the art deco era.Ā
The glaze has yellowed some and there is crazing to the glaze and a fewĀ small (less than 1/2 inch) where the glaze hasĀ been chipped off.Ā There is no damage to the statue other than to the glaze.Ā
I would really like info on the origin, and what it is made of as well as a value.Ā I know a number of borzoi collectors including the author of "Unique Zoitiques" and none of them have this piece in their collections.Ā Ā Ā Thank you
We know it's Cantagalli Majolica, art nouveu style, unusual floral pattern with grotesque heads and snakes. One minor repair to one snake, a few flakes of glaze off the snakes too. Otherwise no damage on the body of the item. ANY HELP WITH THE FAIR MARKET VALUE MUCH APPRECIATED
