Description

I’m looking for more information on this cabinet. It’s been in the family for at least 80 years but don’t know much about style or value. It’s in original state, no repairs or refinishing done

Smoking Stand

Your early 20th century Arts & Crafts oak smoking stand will bring $350-$400 at auction. Possibly more because of the leaded slag glass "window". Very, very nice!

Thank you SilentGal for your appraisal. I was unaware of the slag glass you mentioned - was that a common item used at the time?

Certainly my pleasure!
As far as the slag glass goes on furniture, the answer is yes and no. More common on built-in furniture like china cabinets in dining rooms, but uncommon in free standing hard case furniture. My grandparents had a home built in 1895-6 that had slag glass on the linen closets upstairs and leaded glass in the dining room (and other areas in the house). I searched quite a few auction comparables for Arts & Crafts smoking stands and none of them had that decoration. Similar hardware, but no glass.
Like I said, yours is special. I think someone that has a mission style home would be thrilled to have it!
