Profile picture for user terryelaine

Description

The plate has no 'silver'cancer' and has been lovingly taken care of.  I've always thought it had a lace look to it.

Re: pierced footed cake plate

It actually does not date from the 1800's, but could date to the early 1900's. A number of companies used the "Old Sheffield ' label, these pieces were generally silver plated over copper. Valuesand demand  for silverplate these days is in decline, there is simply too much of it on the market right now, even nice trays often fail to get bids at auction or sell for less than $50.00.
