Stuff like this is generally called "Art Pottery", or "Studio pottery" after the fact it was most often made in small pottery studio's. Unless the marking is known, or there is some provenance with the piece to indicate a maker , it is often impossible to determine the maker or even a possible date of production. Just to give you an idea as to how much of it is out there, here's a link to auction sales under the heading "Art Pottery"
