Description

silver and gold plate box box about 3.5" x1.75" x .75", has silver ornate trim , gold ornate trim , gold bands around outer body of box, silver ornate band in between the two. although the box is plated its the inscription on the lid that leads me to believe that it has some historicle value. "Presented to Mrs. Mary Lawrence by her friend Daniel W. Baylies" is inscribed on box. a web search turned up vital records of Edgartown Massachusett which list these two as being married in 1835 and that daniel w. baylies pioneered to california in 1849 from the island of Nantucket.any information as to the value of this item would be appreciated.
