Description
I found this book and can find no information on it. I am perplexed.
This is the play, The interior pages have no hand writing on them. It has a Ex Libris Anna Louise Smith. It has a green cover with red titling of Arsenic and Old Lace with crossbones. The pages are in excellent condition no pen marks or tears, or other imperfections other than normal aging.
Re: Arsenic and Old Lace * Readers League of America*Green ...
Readers League of America is like a book club or reprint house where they pay the original publisher (Random House in this case) to create a reprint of a book. While the original Arsenic and Old Lace published by Random House with photoplays is worth any where from $50 to $750, your reprint copy published by Readers League of America is being offered elsewhere for $6. Yours is also appears to be a 2nd printing of a reprint which is not a desirable characteristic in this book.
Re: Arsenic and Old Lace * Readers League of America*Green ...
Very true, with books it's all about author, edition and condition. First editions by noted authors always sell for the most, book club editions often sell in box lots, in some cases for less than a dollar.
Re: Arsenic and Old Lace * Readers League of America*Green ...
P.S. the Ex-Libris label is a bookplate. Some of them have a lot of value depending on who the artist is....it looks like yours has an artist's name but I can't read it. Anna Smith is the person who owned the bookplate....I don't recognize her as being anyone famous....before giving the book away I would so some research on the bookplate...it could have some value but I'm no expert on them. The bookplate can be removed from the book if it does have value.
