Description
Don't know the history as it was bought at a country auction in Ontario, Canada 25 years ago. There are some stress marks on the seat and on arm rests. It is stained in a reddish brown tint, so its hard to tell what kind of wood, but we think it may be oak.
We would like to offer it for sale and find out how best to describe it and what would be a fair price.
Re: Pressback Rocking Chair
Well the good news is it's still worth about what you paid for it. Demand for theese "Colonial Revival" Style pressbacks has been in decline since the early 1990's and values have dropped considerably from their peak. Pressbacks are generally maple and birch with elm, ash or oak used in the pressed sections.
