Description
I have looked off and on to try to idenitify this vase. The bottom and clay look similar to Grueby or
Roseville-the clay not the unglazed bottom. The vase is in great shape with the exception of the
cracked clay on the top rim. I really feel like this crack was caused while it was being fired
because it is smooth. The mottled green glaze looks like Grueby to me but not the tan/orange
underglaze. The interior shows rings that I think means it was hand thrown, tho as you can
tell I'm no expert. I would love to know who made this vase. Thank you.
Re: Antique art pottery vase unknown maker mottle matte ...
It's what's generically called "Art Pottery", a term to descrbe low production pieces by smaller pottery studio's. Without a mark, label or provenance to check against it's impossible to detemine a maker. Most sell as Decorator pieces for under $100.00 at auction.

Thank you for your information. I had hoped perhaps the clay color would help id it but oh well. I think if it will not bring more than that I will keep it. I love the colors and patina. Thanks again, L
