Medium Steel and Brass?

Distinguishing marks one one side of the blade, near the guard "CSA" is stamped, on the opposite side, it has elevel stars in a random looking arrangement

Condition Excellent

Size and dimensions of this item 30" blade, 32 1/2" sheath, 5 1/4 from guard to butt, 38" total length butt to sheath

Date Period 1860's?

Weight ?

History Found this sword hidden in the rafters of an attic, in a house I was renting in Greensboro, NC, sometime in 1999. I have no other information on it.
