Description
I was told that it was made of ivory or bone and it has a lot of carvings on it, I did make out a dragon on it. I was told that it probably came from the Vietnam war. That is all I know about it and am looking for anyone who may know what it is to inform me with more info!!!

Re: Antique ivory or bone opium pipe
I have the exact same opium pipe with the same dragon carvings except the background carving is a little different, plus it has a bowl or damper made of what looks like clay or some other hard black material. Mine is also 1 ft. 9 in. long and the end caps are identically carved. My wife bought it in Saigon in 1970. I don't know if it's bone or ivory but it's heavy like ivory. I'd like to know if it was made in Vietnam during the 1960-70 era and what it might be worth today.
Re: Antique ivory or bone opium pipe
I buy and deal with a lot of opium antiques. If someone else has the exact same one, chances are it's a reproduction. These pipes were all different. I've never heard of two authentic ones being the same. Similar, maybe, but even then, there are significant differences. It would help to see a full photo of the entire pipe. Really looks like an opium pipe but I know fakes do exist. Where did you purchase it and for how much? That would pretty much answer it's authenticity. I can let you know if you reply.
