From the looks of the pics this is not more bone then ivory. The grains are just not there.

Ancient Greek and Roman society are accredited with the initial folding knives as well as knives with ivory blades. It's thought that this was an effect of the status of cut fruits - ivory blades banned the relocate of the flavor of rust or metal.
