Description

Hand carved burl wood couch bought at a rummage sale for $75.00. Was told(unverified) that it came from an antique store where it was priced at $1000.00 and sold for $800.00(no dates available) then later donated to the church for the sale. Found some writing on the bottom side - JD White 1920 Albany, New York. I have no idea when it was made but would like anu help I can get on value and origin.

Well, you got a great deal for $75.00. This is an American Empire sofa made about 1840 and unlike most I see, it is in great condition. While Empire furniture is not in great demand in today's market, even at auction a piece like this should go for over $250.00
