Description

This 2-piece oak secretary is 33" wide, 22" deep and 80" tall. It was purchased in 1971 for $135. It includes a note written by the seller in 1971, tracing its ownership to a woman born in 1857. It apparently traveled from Roanoke, VA to Eastern Pennsylvania to Baltimore to Norfolk.

The top has two glass doors and 3 adjustable shelves. The doors lock with a metal key.

The bottom piece has one shallow drawer the width of the piece, 2 deep drawers that are 1/2 the width and a cabinet. It also has a rolltop desk area, with a compartment insert.

The desk area could use some refinishing, but otherwise it's in very good condition.

This appears to have been made by a carpenter or an early DIYer. It has no factory markings and its style is more "cottage humble" than refined.
