Antique Mantel - 1920's era??

Description

In cleaning out my parents' garage this weekend, we discovered an antique mantel. My father said it came out of an old home in Richmond's historic Church Hill in the 1940's - he believes it to have been made in the 1920's, but unsure exactly. I have attached 3 photos. The mantel is either a poplar or cherry wood piece, 5'x7' in dimension.

Mantels like this tend to date from the turn of the 19th century and are in the Empire revival style which was popular at the time. Values for them depend on wood type and condition. In the rough like this they sell at aucdtion for about $250.00
