Re: Liquor Cabinet (Kunst-Möbel)
I also have one of these liquor cabinets and have been trying to find out information about it.
I do know that my parents purchased it in 1951 while we werre living in Germany. So, that should give you an idea of the age of these cabinets.
The one I have never had wheels, but I can see why they may have put them on, as the cabinet is very solid.
The guy who designed it died in 1951 too, so I don't know if that makes it any more vauable. I'm not sure if the guy built them by hand or manufactured them.
Re: Liquor Cabinet (Kunst-Möbel)
I have that same cabinet. Mine doesn't have wheels, but it does have a shelf under the cabinet, it rests on the two slats right above the wheels. Mine also has inlayed rose boarder around the parameter of the top. Picked it up at an antique store for $50 around 20 years ago - I'm thinking they didn't charge enough. Would love to know more about this piece.
Re: Liquor Cabinet (Kunst-Möbel)
Sadly the value of 20th Century liquor cabinets for all but the rarest pieces by noted designers have tumbled in recent years. Cabinets that match this one currently sell at auction for under $150.00.
