It's a Hall Seat, these were used in front entrance halls of large homes, for visitors to sit down on and take off boots and coats. What was paid would be top dollar for one like this.

Crazy Ike, I never claim to be an EXPERT :  Do you have any links that show a Mex.Mfg/ Hall Chair?

I can't find anything.  I do spend a lot of time looking up information to share with Posters. looking to know what they have....

I don't recall saying any thing about and expert. there was a discussion a bout thse chairs a few years a go on the e bay furniture forum a few years a go.

Some are marked Mexico some are not. as to the internet you should know every thing is not listed.

I never claim to be Expert. was'nt ment to be a comment on anything said.I was just saying I'm no expert: But I do love looking up stuff. and if you had something I could learn, I would love to see it. Thats all. . As for the Internet . You know the Internet Never Lies..(Humor).

It's pretty funky looking, but it looks more "Spanish Revival" than "Jacobean", the saddle shaped seat gives it away. The style became popular toward the end of World War 1 and was big through the 1920's in California.
