Description

W.T.H. Howe and Edith Barbara Tranter had extensive collections.  I know that Howe, an avid collector, bought several items in London from the Bronte collection in 1941, just before his death.  His book collection, some note as the third largest in the United States at the time, was purchased and became part of the Berg collection.  Edith, herself, had two auctions by Sotheby's Park-Bernet in January and March of 1952.
