Antique William and Mary wing chair circa 1725?

Appraisal complete
Description

So I bought this chair at an "antique" and furniture store for 40 dollars to try my hand at reupholstering it. Considering I bought it at an antique store I didn't think the chair would have much more value to it than the 40 dollars I bought it for. I removed everything down to the bones. The fabric that was on it when I bought it was not original. I continued to strip the finish on the chair, it was so dark that it was almost black on the carvings and it was lighter on the arms. After I had stripped it I noticed very light hand writing on the back of the frame that says "slat 1725."  Then I removed wood that had been nailed into the frame that was obviously not original to the piece which revealed a stamp that says "1725." Had I seen this earlier, I never would have touched the finish. I would love to know if the chair is worth anything and if it is how much? Should I get it appraised by an expert? Should I take it to an expert to restore/ refinish it the right way? I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated!!! Thank you!

It does not date from 1725, chairs like this date from the first quarter of the 20th century and go at auction for about what you paid for it, unless the upholstery is in very good condition. In very good shape with its upholstery intact we'd sell an original less than $200.00.
