Grandma may have purchased it when my mom bought pieces from the same line in the mid 1960's. The finish is called "Nutmeg", style is Early American, and I've noticed it's making a small comeback as mid-century retro/country/shabby chic although there's nothing shabby about this well crafted and made to last beautiful furniture. Birch was mixed with and stained to match the hardness and beauty of maple. Sadly, Ethan Allen had to drop this maple line due to the dwindling maple forests. Hold onto this great piece!
