Your chair is a mid Victorian example in the Renaissance Revival Style, a style popular from the 1840's through 70's. Most tend to be constructed of walnut or rosewood, demand for them climbed through the 1980's and 90's, but has declined drastically in the last 20 years. Currently at auction comparable chairs often go for less than $100.00.
