Description

I have two John Peers clown paintings for sale. I don't believe these are prints It is my understanding that Peers was a painter in the 1950's, who lived in San Francisco, and painted clown paintings for money for his food/drink. He would paint these when he needed money and sell them.  These seem to be collectables. As one picture shows they are on canvas material

You are correct about the artist, except these are most likely from the 1960's.  He rarely painted other subjects but I was able to convince him to do an old Victorian house that was being torn down.  It took about a year to get it from him but he came thru.  Still have that and two clown paintings.  He would charge anywhere from $20 to $40 for the clowns, unframed of course.  He would frequently show up at the SF produce market restaurant/bar selling his paintings.

Doubt there is a large market for these, but they are colorful and a bit of SF history as well as mine.
