British Royal Mail Postal Table

Description

I appreciate your help in assessing the value and rarity (if at all) of this object.

I believe it is a postal standing desk, probably from around the early 1900s.  It is British, with the ER VII (King Edward VII) insignia carved and/or branded into two of the desks rear surfaces.

I've looked high and low online and have seen nothing that looks close to this associated with Royal Mail.

Once again, I appreicate the experts' help in learning more about this piece that I inherited some time ago.
