Tusk shaped item

Description

Not sure that this is. Looks like some type of a tusk shell.  Found at an estste sale with some very old items.

Looks like a powder horn, used when adding gun powder to a muzzle loaded gun. Some parts may be missing. These were usually made from aminal horns such as cows. Could also be a dog horn. Hunters made horns to call their dogs back. If you blow really hard (trumpet style) into the smaller end it may produce a loud sound.
