Description

This chair has been in my family for a few generations but I'm not sure how many.

I realy know zilch about it. The bottom of the seat has been replaced, as you can see, so there is no identifying marks, that I can see.

I would be very interested to know its origin and age.

Category Furniture
Medium wood, but I don't know what type
Distinguishing marks I can't see any, the seat base has been replaced somewhere in its life
Condition Poor
Date Period My guess is possibly mid + 1800's
Weight have no idea
History I know it has been in the family for a few generations. I think our family came to Australia (Van Deiman's Land) in approx 1830's. Whether it is that old I do not know.
I have classed it as 'poor' condition as it needs some restoring to cloth and some wooden joins.
Price Paid (If known) family item for a few generations
