I also have a Lane chest and had previously asked the same question. The best I can do is copy and paste others reply who also have a 1939 Lane cedar chest, if that helps at all.. Submitted by Lovejoy Lane has been making cedar chests since before World War One, and while there is some market for the older examples from the 20's-30's values for these later examples is flat at the current time, and they often sell for under $100.00 at auction Online auction sites, antique shops and secondhand stores often sell Lane cedar chests -- based on their age, condition or rarity -- starting at $99 and as high as $700 or more for older chests. But most chests -- on average -- are valued between $200 and $400. I'm sure your already aware that the serial number indicates the day on which the item was produced, written backwards but wanted to also link the site for the recall since 1996 on all the older self latching locks due to several children suffocating inside. http://www.lanefurniture.com/customer_care/newlock/history.html Hope some of this helped.. Good luck.
