Antique Tie Clip?

I recieved this piece from my Grandmothers estate. I think this is a tie pin that may have belonged to my Grandfather or Great Grandfather. There are no markings or stamps on the back. There is some beautiful designs on the front. I believe this piece is fairly old because of the clasp on the back, it is almost like the clasp of a safety pin. Any information would help. Thanks!
