Antique Curio Cabinet

This cabinet was inherited from my great-grandmother's home, and it's origin prior to that is unknown.  It has a mirrored back inside, removable shelf, metallic gold or bronze finish with images painted at the bottom.  It has a few numbers on the back - 256 is embossed, and some written numbers as shown.  The photographs show foam and pillows inside that were used for safe transport only to prevent the glass from shattering.  I would love to repaint and repurpose it for my more modern home, but want to be sure it's not a valuable cabinet before doing so.  Any clues or info on it's origin or worth woudl be welcomed.
