Hello,
My dad received this from a neighbor and we were interested in its value. We do not know how/where it was acquired.
The set has 88 pieces:
Each piece is marked on the bottom:
Rosenthal
Kronach-Germany

There is a number under 3158 that is different on a lot of the pieces.
The set includes:
1 tea pot with lid (or is it a coffee pot?)
1 sugar bowl with lid
1 vegetable bowl with lid
1 creamer
1 gravy boat attached to plate
1 large serving bowl
3 oval serving dishes, S, M, and L
11 tea cups
12 dessert or bread and butter plates
11 finger or ice cream bowls
12 bowls
11 salad plates
12 dinner plates
10 saucers
If I were to get the missing pieces to make it a full 12 piece serving set, would that increase its value at all?
I did not see any chips or nicks when examining them. The gold trim is not deteriorating on any of the pieces. One tiny plate had a very small gold smudge that almost looked like it was part of the plate itself??
The design of the pieces has raised swirls molded into it and a scalloped edge. You can feel the painted design on the pieces.
How hard is it to find a buyer for china sets? I feel like they are always the last things hanging around estate sales!
Looking on the Internet, I cannot find sets with as many pieces as this one in this design. There are actually not that many items for sale with this design number (compared to other ones I have seen at least).
