This is a historic appraisal from our archive.
I was given this item and think it is a jewelry box. It is 18" high, 9.5" wide, and 16" long. The box is supported by four legs which extend out about another 1". It is very heavy and well made. All corners are dovetailed and the back is held on by 8 brass screws. There is a piece of paper on the back that says Made in Korea and all the drawers have the number 14 stamped on the bottom. The top opens down like a secretary desk and there are 8 tiny cubbyholes, one larger center door and 9 small drawers. Below the "secretary" portion of the chest there are two smaller drawers and below that three larger drawers that run the length of the box. It is is great condition except for the top where the finish has peeled off and on the front of the drop down portion there are some smudges.
