I purchased this table and chair set at my local flea market yesterday for $35 with intentions of refinishing the table top and seats and chalk painting the legs. Once I noticed that each piece including the leafs are stamped, I figured I should research value before I paint (and possibly destroy) something that could possibly be valuable. The entire set is solid wood and very sturdy. No major knicks or imperfections and finish is worn but looks original. I looked online and see many Temple-Stuart sets, but no chairs that look like this. please advise whether it would be safe to paint, or could I be destroying something valuable. Thank you!
