Description
The doll has a solid cloth body. Possibly stuffed with straw. The hands, feet and head/shoulder plate is China porcelain. No chips or cracks. At one point lace was glued to her shoulder plate. On the shoulder plate is a bow that came from manufacturing. I'm not sure if the clothing was original because I bought her at a thrift shop.
Re: Antique China doll
This China doll is called a Low Brow, in that her hair is formed low on her forehead. She is circa 1920-1930 as noted by the imperfections in the painting of her facial features. The features of the earlier China's were painted to perfection. Her clothing isn't original (most did not survive) although she is dressed nicely. The Low Brows of this era were produced and sold in larger volumes of the earlier dolls as well. She would have a value of approx. $80.00 today.
