Antique small bottle with hole in lid

The lid is screw on and metal with a hole in it possibly for a dispenser. It has the number 5881 on the bottom and a small raised round spot.

I'm no expert but noticed no comments yet so just thought I'd ask if you've considered it might be the bottom portion of an old oil lamp? By appearance & description (especially the screw on lid), that's the only thing that comes to mind. Hope someone knows more than I do :)
