Have a full Japanese Dragon tea set - 1 teapot, 1 sugar bowl, 1 creamer, 6 teacups, 6 saucers, 6 plates. We received this on our grandparents death. Our grandfather was in WW2 in the Pacific so assume he picked up after the war when in Japan. The interesting thing about this set is the the teacups are very thin and have a face of a geisha girl on the bottom. See picture. I've also included a few pictures of the japanese 'brand' on the bottom to better identify the piece. Would love to have a bit of history about this and to better understand the value of this set. Thanks!

Re: Japanese Dragon tea set
Most "Dragonware" was made from the 1920's onward for the export market from Japan. Dragonware was made in very large numbers, a lot of it brought back by troops stationed in Japan and the Pacific. The marking, the 2 characters read NICHI HON, which read together as Nippon (= Japan). The image in the bottom is called a "Lithophane". In the current market values even for whole sets tends to be modest, we see comparable sets sell at auction on a regular basis going for less than $100.00
