Description
I have been asked to sell these crystal bowls which have been in the same family for generations. I'm not sure how many generations, but it is old.
The family has links to (and I think originated from Canada.
The large bowl is It's about 9 cm high at its highest point and the diameter is approx 21 cm, (outside rim to outside rim). it has a saw tooth edge.
There are 6 accompanying smaller bowls. They are about 10 cm high and diameter is about 11.5 cm.
The crystal is about 0.8 cm thick on the small bowls and 1 cm thick on the large bowl.
I'm not able to find any markings.
I've only been able to upload 1 photo. For some reasond the others won't upload.
Re: Family crystal set
I think this is a late 19th early 20th century lead cut crystal bowl American Brilliant Cut with hobstars and castellated scalloped top edge. Lovely. Probably between ÂŁ50-ÂŁ80
Re: Family crystal set
Many thanks for your reply and your time. Do you mean the value is for the whole set or only the large bowl? TIA.
Re: Family crystal set
I can only see one bowl unfortunately….so this bowl in you photo I was commenting on. Have you got more photos?
Re: Family crystal set
There are 6 smaller bowls, but the photos wouldn't upload. Now would any more photos of the big bowl. I tried for a long time, but without success.
Re: Family crystal set
Sorry, that should be 'Nor would....'
Re: Family crystal set
Providing there is no damage at all, a set like this…probably a desert set would be about £120-150
Try comparing on eBay under American brilliant cut period items….
Hope it helps.
Re: Family crystal set
Thank you all for your help and time. :)
Re: Family crystal set
Ok, so I have an update. On close inspection i have discovered that the smaller ones have a slightly different pattern to the big one. The stars in the bases are different and on the big one there is a full star on the edge while there is only a half one on the small ones.
Do you think this means that they are not a set, or do you think it was done on purpose to accommodate the smaller size. I'll try to upload some new photos to show you, but so far I've only been able to upload the one. :(
Re: Family crystal set
No luck with the photos. Don't know why they won't upload. They are jpeg files and less than 7 MB :(
Re: Family crystal set
You may be right…can’t comment without photos….sorry….
Re: Family crystal set
Can anyone help with loading the photos? The process starts and then stops anywhere between 63 & 85%
