You might be able to tell if it’s modern by looking at the drawer slides and seeing if they’re modern materials. I remember stores that sold just oak furniture in the mid 1980s.

This is a reproduction, rotary cut oak veneers where not used on the originals. Most like this were made during the 1980's when the demand for the originals pushed prices through the roof for Victorian furniture. Values have tanked though since the 90's, even for the higher price originals from the late 1800's.
