I am seeking a specific date or "decade, circa", and an official description name/ item designation of this piece. Here is what I know.
Maker/ Artist: "G.Keller"/ Gustave Keller (or succession of Keller brothers) - Date produced: (my best guess, ca. 1937) - Material: sterling silver (other added accented allows) - Signed/ Hallmark: Yes, "G.Keller Paris + "GK stamp" - Dimensions/ Specs: base width=1 and 1/16 in . top/ cap width=1 and 1/2 in . total height=3 and 1/8 in . total weight=61.1grams (2.16oz/ 1.96ozt) - Color: Silver (exterior) Gold (interior) - Condition: near mint - Other: yes, custom inscription on top of container cap/ top. Can not determine exact text.
That is what I know. It would be of great appreciation if I could determine exactly what the use of this piece is/ was for. Naturally, also, when exactly the piece was produced. I know Keller was an American silversmith and metals artist. I know he was awarded for his work in Paris, France at the World Expo for his work in the late 19th century. I have found very, very similar items. Only they were lesser in height, or greater. Also, they were not as preserved nor did they possess the customized accents, yet had near the exact same basic form and one with the same exact exterior texture. Those particular others were produced ca. 1910-1937 (so deco?). Well, as said, any information with verification or credential, I would be of great appreciation to receive. I've been searching for the past year or so trying with no concrete surface to stand on yet. Thank you kindly.
