Description:
This is a charming ceramic cat statue with tan, white, and gray tones, beautifully accentuated with striking blue eyes. The bottom of the figure is engraved with the inscription “Lisa L Made in Sweden,” suggesting a connection to Lisa Larson, a renowned Swedish ceramic artist known for her whimsical and collectible animal sculptures.

Notable Features:

  1. Design: The cat's styling reflects a minimalist and modern aesthetic, characteristic of Lisa Larson’s works from the 20th century. Its sleek form and textured finish align with Larson's Scandinavian design principles.
  2. Markings: The engraving on the bottom, "Lisa L Made in Sweden," suggests authenticity, though further verification is recommended since Lisa Larson’s works are widely reproduced and occasionally counterfeited.
  3. Condition: The statue appears to be in excellent condition with no visible cracks, chips, or discoloration, which enhances its collectible value.
  4. Date: The marking or design style indicates a possible production year of 1997, though Lisa Larson’s most prolific period was during her time at Gustavsberg from the 1950s to the 1980s.

Background and Context:
Lisa Larson is a celebrated ceramic designer who worked for Gustavsberg Pottery in Sweden. Her works are beloved for their warm, playful designs and have become highly collectible. While many of her cat sculptures are documented, variations or unique editions may exist, particularly if this piece was produced outside her mainstream collections.

Value Assessment:
The value of Lisa Larson’s ceramics depends on factors such as authenticity, rarity, condition, and demand. If confirmed as an authentic Larson piece, this statue could have significant value among collectors of Scandinavian ceramics.

Estimated Value:

  • If authentic: $200–$500, depending on rarity and collector demand.
  • If not definitively authentic but still a vintage piece with Scandinavian design ties: $75–$150.

Recommendation:
To confirm authenticity and establish precise value, an in-person appraisal by a ceramics expert or auction housespecializing in mid-century Scandinavian ceramics is strongly recommended. A professional appraiser can examine the engraving, glaze, and design details to verify its origin. Additionally, you may want to consult a Lisa Larson expert or resource, such as a gallery specializing in her works.

Feel free to reach out if you’d like help locating a professional appraiser or advice on how to preserve this lovely piece. It’s a delightful sculpture, and whether or not it’s a Larson original, it deserves to be showcased with care!

I'd need to see some images of the marking, from that I can tell you if you have an original or a copy.
