Handcarved Japanese Art-WWII Era

Made by Unknown, circa 1940s-1950s. Materials: Wood. This picture was brought to America by PFC Alfred B.Richmond, sr., Medical Corp, after serving in Europe, his platoon was hit by a bomb, and he was the only survivor in his platoon. He had severe shrapnel wounds in his back and was in the hospital in Belgium, but the hospital was bombed on Wed., December 27th, 1944, according to his notes, so he was moved to France, then New York. His family had no idea where he was. Somehow he brought this back with him upon his return.
