Inherited a collection? How to start sorting through it
Many people come to InstAppraisal because they've inherited antiques and collectibles and have no idea where to start. If that's you, here's my advice:
1. Don't throw anything away yet — you'd be surprised what has value
2. Start with photos — document everything before moving or cleaning
3. Group by type — furniture, art, jewelry, coins, etc.
4. Check for obvious marks — signatures, labels, stamps, hallmarks
5. Use InstAppraisal for quick scans — get a general sense of value before deciding what deserves a full appraisal
Anyone else been through this process? What worked for you?
