Green Asian Ginger Jar

Description

This jar was purchased at an estate auction. I have no idea what the markings on the bottom mean, I have tried researching them but can't find any exactly like it. Is it Japanese or Chinese? The glaze is completely crazed/crackled, not sure if that is damage or was produced that way on purpose. :)

Your piece is a modern example of Japanese satsuma, the crackle glaze is meant to give it the appearance of great age. Value wise it's worth about what you paid for it.

Lovejoy
