Kutani blue dragonware saki set

Description

Pitcher and cups have a blue wavey background with fire breathing dragon. Small bird on top is gold. Each of the 5 cups has a lithopane on the bottom, two different women. I assume one cup has been lost or broken. Cups are of the same blue with dragon.

Dragonware was a mass produced "Made for Export" item, made from the turn of the 19th Century until after World War Two. Values for it remain quite modest, currrently the saki sets sell for less than $60.00.

Lovejoy
