I PICKED THIS UP AT AN AUTION WITH 2 OTHER "MAJOICA" CHEESE DOMES. THE OTHERS DID SHOW SIGNS OF WARE. THIS ONE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THERE IS CRAZING ON THE PLATE AND THE DOME ITSELF. THE GLAZE RUNS OFF OF THE DESIGNS, LITTLE SLOPPY. IT STANDS 14" TALL WHEN ON PLATE. THE PLATE MEASURES 14" IN DIAMETER. IT IS EMBOSSED "MINTON" ON THE BOTTOM WHICH SHOWS AN INDENT IN THE POTTERY. THERE IS A METTALIC GLAZE WHICH SHOWS UP MORE IN ON THE PLATE. THIS DOES APPEAR TO ME TO BE OLD. THE CRAZING IS NOT UNIFORM ON THE PLATE. THIS APPEARS TO BE MADE BY A MOLD USING CERAMIC. IT IS WHITE ON THE INSIDE (UNDER PLATE LOOKING THROUGH HOLE ON BOTTOM. THE DOME IS COLORED WITH A TEAL BLUE GLAZE ON THE INSIDE. YOU CAN SEE THE VINES AND LEAVES THROUGH THE INSIDE WHICH IS WHY I BELIEVE THIS WAS MADE BY A MOLD. I DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT MAJOLICA, I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS A REPRODUCTION OR OLD FROM THE 1800'S.
