"A Market Place" Etching by EdWill Fisher; Ca 1900-1918, color etching

By tpswint, 17 December, 2008
Description

I bought this etching in a print gallery in 1973-74 in Gulfport, MS - This is an original signed color etching of what appears to be a European village landscape. It contains a poulterer next to a cart holding a goose upside down by the legs, and a woman sitting who appears to be selling fruit, in the foreground. This is a village scene. The etched title is "A Market Place." There is a pencil signature which appears authentic when compared to other signed etchings I have seen on the internet by this artist. However, I have found no information on this particular etching. I float mounted this in a frame years ago, of which the glass ultimately became broken. To safekeep it I placed it inside some stiff cardboard and taped it closed where it has remained for the past 15 years or so. The scan appears somewhat darker than the original etching.
