Ladies Chair

Description

My strange one armed chair came from Florida, from an aunt of my Grandfather. I do not know if it was originally purchased there or if it was purchased in Chicago. I think the chair was possibly re-upolstered because the seat is filled with metal springs. You can feel them when you push on the seat. Maybe it is a reproduction anyway. I was told at one time that "Southern Belles" would sit on chairs like this because it left room for their skirts on the side without the arm.

The first photo and swecond photo give good overall view of the chair. The third is a close up of the cartouche on the back... possibly hand painted?

Any information given would be GREATLY appreciated and an appraisal would be fantastic.
